Two best-friend leasing agents, Maia and Temi are stuck in Los Angeles working for a fake-boujee apartment complex called "The Basquiat", unfortunately located on Skid Row. When life renders them both homeless, they become squatters at their place of work and are thrusted into the community of goobers and tweakers that inhabit the neighborhood.

In the heart of Los Angeles, aspiring music producer Nia Moore lands a job as a hostess at YAMS, a bustling Soul Food restaurant and hotspot for bigwig celebrities and executives. She instead finds a colorful cast of starving artists working alongside her, who will grow to become her family in a city where she feels alone.

At an isolated boarding school in Vermont, brilliant legacy, Asia Melbourne, becomes the first Black student indoctrinated into the academic cult, “Higher Society”. It curdles into a nightmare when she uncovers the barbaric, annual tradition of voting on the “lowest-value” student to sacrifice. This year, Asia and all of her friends are on the list.

Safiya Nicol is a Los-Angeles based screenwriter and filmmaker from the South Side of Chicago. A graduating senior from the University of Southern California with a B.F.A. in Writing for Screen and Television, Safiya has had a passion for telling stories for as long as she can remember. Safiya enjoys finding the absurdity in life and channeling it into her writing where she centers Black stories, characters, and voices.
